In the “Mind in Goldleaf” project, I engaged in a fully immersive experience of traditional Buddha statue gilding. As photography was not permitted, I documented the intricate process through hand-drawn illustrations and detailed notes. From surface polishing to gold leaf application, each step required quiet focus and steady hands. Without cameras, I learned to observe more attentively and internalize the tactile rhythm of the craft. This experience offered more than technical learning—it revealed the meditative, almost sacred, nature of heritage craftsmanship rooted in patience, reverence, and human presence.

Through direct participation in the delicate goldleafing of Buddha statues, I experienced how intangible beliefs are preserved through tangible craftsmanship. Rooted in East Asian Buddhist traditions, the practice harmonizes body and mind—every gesture is not just technical but meditative. This journey echoed how spiritual teachings shape individual discipline, group cohesion, and ecological compassion, turning silent manual work into moral and cultural continuity.
