Intentions

The Joviah Studio began with a search for cultural resonance—how Buddhism, personal identity, and aesthetic instinct intersect. Inspired by ancient garments, spiritual symbolism, and lived tradition, the brand explores how heritage can become wearable—quiet, intentional, and present in daily life.

Insight

Contemporary ancient-style clothing faces high costs and low practicality, while traditional craftsmanship risks extinction amid industrial standardization. Meanwhile, youth seek fashion that balances cultural identity and self-expression, revealing gaps in both supply chains and design narratives.

Creative Direction

The Joviah Studio targets individuals aged 25–45 who seek quality living and cultural depth. Inspired by Eastern aesthetics, the design combines traditional Chinese elements—like cheongsam cuts and Shu embroidery—with modern wearability. The visual language emphasizes negative space, psychological calm, and ritual in the everyday. Through the integration of natural fabrics and structural balance, the collection reimagines heritage through a refined yet practical lens.

Leadership & Implementation

From team formation in March 2024 to the official launch in August, Joviah Studio was independently led through every stage—from locating intangible cultural heritage artisans to store scouting, decoration, and visual merchandising. The team communicated with different customer groups, iterated designs, and launched online promotions across platforms like rednote. A full product system including procurement, pricing, and customization was gradually established.

Results

In just six months, Joviah Studio achieved over ¥500,000 in revenue across 15 countries, with a 35% repurchase rate. Customer feedback praised the fusion of craftsmanship and modern design, highlighting the brand’s success in both market reach and cultural resonance.
